Enduring Powers of Attorney - Personal Care and Welfare
A lot of people are familiar with the concept of a Power of Attorney for property - granting another person the ability to make decisions for you, or to sign documents on your behalf in relation to assets or other obligations such as your house, cancellation of insurance contracts etc. What most people are not so familiar with is the Power of Attorney in relation to your personal care and welfare.
There is no legal requirement for a restaurant to accept bookings. However, if you do make a booking you have created a legally binding contract which means that if you fail to turn up you could be charged if the restaurant can show that by doing so you caused it to lose business.
If you purchase good or services from a local company then your internet purchase is subject to the same rules as if you had bought at a local store. Shopping with a non New Zealand company gives you fewer rights and makes it much more difficult to resolve any problems.
