What our clients have to say about Celia

"Celia has acted for my wife and I for 18 years. During this time Celia has acted for us in the purchase and sale of numerous residential, commercial and rural properties, formed numerous companies and trusts and in one case created a subdivision. Celia has always attended to our needs in an efficient and timely fashion and her advice has always been sound and above all, accurate.
Celia possesses a professional ethic this is unmatched by any other lawyer I know and her attention to detail is unrivalled.
It must be noted that she is supported by a similarly motivated team at the Riccarton branch. Her efforts on our behalf are much appreciated"

David Abbott, Airline Pilot, Christchurch

""I would like to thank you again for your work and effort, especially at short notice and often requiring some long hours of work. Your advice has been invaluable but so also has your sense of humour throughout the process"."
Garth Munro, Director Empower Rehabilitation

Celia's Profile

Celia Barker has extensive experience in residential and commercial law and has developed a great team at the Cavell Leitch Law Riccarton office to support her large and growing client base of property owners, developers and business owners.

Many of Celia's clients originally came to her solely in relation to buying or selling their houses, but have now come to regard her as their first port of call when making other business decisions. Her trusted and timely advice in relation to the sales and purchase of businesses, franchising, distribution agreements, joint venture arrangements and shareholder arrangements has helped many people through the difficult times of starting out on their own.

Her expertise in residential and commercial property development ranges from selling off the back half of a quarter acre section through to 100 lot subdivisions of farmland. She acts for clients who are in the business of building or buying commercial buildings and has extensive experience in leasing industrial or commercial buildings.

Celia has a strong interest and genuine expertise in Trust Law. This is an area where many profess to be "experts" but only a few actually are. Her expertise in this area includes trust deed drafting and alteration, trust restructuring, personal property issues, asset protection advice, wills, powers of attorney and family succession planning.

Brought up in South Canterbury and having travelled extensively overseas, Celia is a keen skier. She also is a keen supporter of many charitable organisations and has been on many of their committees. In addition, she is currently Deputy Chairperson of the Canterbury Opera Foundation.

Celia is dedicated to delivering the very best results for her clients in a timely and practical manner. She is well recognised as being a good and caring communicator with an excellent rapport with clients.
