Checking Your Text Messages While At The Lights?
Using your mobile phone while in your car other than with a hands free kit is likely get you into hot water under our new laws.
A brief reminder of what you can and cannot do:

The use of mobile phones for any purpose while driving is an offence unless the phone can be used without holding or manipulating it;

The only exception to this is that drivers may use a mobile phone while driving to call 111 or *555 when it is unsafe or impractial t stop and park to make the call;

This prohibition extends to any use of the mobile phone including call, texts, e-mails, taking pictures or videos or any other use;

Driving, for this law, includes being stopped in a stream of traffic or at traffic lights;

Drivers may use a handheld mobile phone for any purpose if they first pull of the road and stop their vehicle.
