The Need To Register A Retirement Village Under The Retirement Villages Act

All retirement villages must register as a village pursuant to the Retirement Villages Act 2003.

If you are an owner or operator of a Retirement Village then you must ensure that your Village is registered under the Act.

According to figures from the Ministry for Economic Development only approximately 50% of villages liable for registration had registered by December 2007. It was also reported that given the deadline for such registration was the 1st of November 2007 that the Ministry would be considering enforcement action against those who had not registered in the New Year.

We remind those who have not yet registered their village as a retirement village to do so as soon as possible in order to avoid any subsequent liability for failure to register.

We have attended to the successful registration of retirement villages under the new Act and therefore we suggest that if you have any queries concerning registration to contact Clare O'Neill or Michael Sweeney.
