Coronavirus Update #3
New Zealand Immigration Update: March 2020
In response to the coronavirus outbreak, temporary restrictions have been placed on entry to NZ for individuals who have recently left or transited through mainland China.
Background
In response to the coronavirus outbreak, temporary restrictions have been placed on entry to NZ for individuals who have recently left or transited through mainland China.
Update
The NZ Government has extended these restrictions to include any individual who has been in or transited through Iran in the 14 days prior to travelling to NZ.
NZ citizens, permanent residents and their immediate family members will still be able to enter NZ, but they must isolate themselves for the first 14 days after arrival.
Our advice
If you intend to or have recently left or transited through mainland China, or Iran, your entry to NZ may be affected. These restrictions are being reviewed every 48 hours, but we expect they will be in place for some time.
The Immigration NZ Beijing office remains closed during this time. This is creating delays across all temporary visa processing, in particular the essential skills work visa category.
