Cavell Leitch Law

Peter Eastgate

Peter joined Cavell Leitch Law in 2002 to manage our Estate Planning Division after an extensive career working in statutory trustee organisations, the last of those positions being as National Trust Solicitor for Tower Trust New Zealand.

As such he has been at the forefront of the trust law evolution in New Zealand over the past two and a half decades and has been involved in advising in every type of possible trust use and structure. He is a regular advisor to other lawyers, accountants & trustee companies and as a result he is truly an expert in this field.

Throughout his career he has had responsibility for the supervision and training of teams in all areas of estate planning, including Family and Charitable Trusts, Estates, Relationship Property, Wills, Powers of Attorney and Asset Protection generally.

Peter has presented papers to a variety of groups and organisations, and has published a significant number of articles and commentaries on new areas of interest as they have arisen or developed.

In 2005 his expertise was further recognised when he was appointed as the New Zealand based Examiner for the (International) Executor and Trustee Institute with responsibility for setting examination and assignment questions for New Zealanders studying for qualifications with this respected and well recognised Institute.
