Cavell Leitch is proud to announce that two of our talented lawyers, Holly Cassin and Jeroen Vink, were named as NZ Lawyer Rising Stars for 2024.

Holly Cassin

Dispute Resolution Senior Associate

Holly Cassin is a Senior Associate in Cavell Leitch dispute resolution team and is the go-to person within the team for insolvency issues.

Working on the firm’s dispute resolution team, she has handled some of the firm’s largest and most demanding files, regularly appearing in court and often setting the strategy and direction.

Cassin enjoys the fast-paced nature of dispute resolution and likes to get the best and most practical outcome for clients in a difficult situation.

Building on her insolvency background, Cassin is currently a Christchurch committee member of the Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association of New Zealand (RITANZ), New Zealand Credit & Finance Institute (NZCFI) and Women in Restructuring & Insolvency (WIRI).

“I’d like to use my experience to develop a legal insolvency practice and move more into focusing on that area of law, It’s also important to me to mentor young staff at the firm, partly in my role as a supervisor, but to show them there are different paths to success.”

Her leadership and passion for supporting up-and-coming young lawyers came to light when she reignited the firm’s peer group initiative, providing a safe space to discuss challenges, learn and develop professionally.

Holly said that the best advice she received as a junior lawyer that helped her cope with the fast-paced and stressful environment of dispute resolution law was:

"There will be stress in this role, and you’ve got to manage it; if you won’t remember it a year from now, don’t spend your time worrying about it."

Holly said this has helped her reset, move forward, and be adaptable in this line of work.

Jeroen Vink

Property - Principal

Jeroen Vink is a Principal in the Cavell Leitch property team and is the youngest Principal at the firm. Jeroen leads the construction practice at Cavell Leitch.

His promotion to Principal in 2023 is a testament to his exceptional leadership, technical ability as a lawyer, and dedication to client results.

Jeroen practices across all areas of property law, including commercial leasing, property development, commercial property acquisition and financing. He also has specialist expertise in residential and commercial construction law.

He acts for a range of clients, from listed companies, builders and developers to first home buyers and has been involved in some of the firm’s largest projects, such as an ASX and NZX IPO, central city development projects and a regulated public offer for a property syndicate.

“The way I ensure great results is by getting to know my clients well, and ensuring the advice I’m giving is tailored to their needs."

Since becoming a parent, the importance of striking a work-life balance has become increasingly important to Jeroen. He aspires to be a role model in that respect and hopes other young lawyers believe that outstanding success and positive contributions are possible within the scope of a typical work week.
