The role

Due to a busy and growing practice, we have an opportunity for a Lawyer, 5+ years’ PQE, to join our Business and Commercial team. In this full-time role, you will be expected to provide a high level of legal advice, support and service to clients. The role is best suited to someone with a passion for commercial work, an energy for learning, and a strong drive for delivering the best client experience.

The role offers the right candidate a clear and structured pathway to partnership, alongside an organised growth plan to best support you to get there.

In applying for this role, it is expected that you will:
  • Have experience with business acquisitions and disposals, financing, and commercial agreements (e.g., supply and distribution agreements) generally. Commercially minded applicants who may have experience in some of the mentioned areas but wish to specialise in business law are also encouraged to apply.
  • Be exposed to a range of industries including health, agribusiness, retirement, distribution, and manufacturing, including exciting opportunities to work alongside and grow with a number of start-ups as a long-term adviser and mentor.
  • Be focused on delivering great client service by being a great communicator and by taking an empathetic approach to dealing with a wide range of clients.
  • Be well-organised and efficient, managing priorities and deadlines effortlessly to meet the clients’ needs in a cost-effective manner.
  • Be able to work relatively independently but still with the team’s needs at heart.
  • Be very reliable and self-motivated, and keen to drive your learning & development by taking advantage of the varied opportunities which Cavell Leitch provides.
  • Have strong people skills and enjoy generating a great team spirit. Having a good sense of humour and being supportive to your teammates will also help you to become a core part of the business team.
  • Be interested in actively identifying and leveraging opportunities to grow the firm’s client base in line with the firm’s strategic direction.
  • Be keen to keep up to date with the legislative requirements and changes within the commercial law practise area and work undertaken.
